Soprano Krista Renée Pape made her professional debut as Mozart's Queen of the Night, where she was praised for her “virtuoso and fiery performance, famous pyrotechnics and all” (Rutland Herald). As a resident artist at Lyric Opera of Kansas City, she performed Frasquita and covered Micaëla (Carmen), performed Annina and covered Violetta (La traviata), performed Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors), performed Mrs. Grady and covered Wendy (The Shining), and sang Woman 4 (Sondheim on Sondheim). Pape graduated with a Masters in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy (2020) from the University of Houston. Additional successes include prizes from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, the National Society of Arts and Letters, MIOpera Vocal Competition, Lewisville Lake Symphony Vocal Competition, Pasadena Vocal Competition, MTNA Young Artist Performance in Voice, the San Antonio Tuesday Musical Club Young Artists Competition, and a Fielder Grant. She sang Frasquita (Carmen) and covered Julie Jordan (Carousel) with Opera North last summer, and will sing First Lady in The Magic Flute at Opera Mississippi and Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Festival Napa Valley in the spring and summer of 2024.
